Jonathan Good Meet The Chumby - your new bedside buddy

Reading a few twitter posts tonight and @jowyang posted a funny little note that the president of Sony has a Chumby bedside... and I just had to investigate. I keep wondering if everyone else is having a hard time keeping up with all the new toys. I still have a clock radio (although I use my Blackberry as my alarm clock) So here's the Chumby.

Jonathan Good Put a knork in it!

It's about time someone redesigned the fork. Possibly inspired by the spork - the knork actually allows you to cut most food with one utensil - because of its curved design and special beveled edges. Find out more at: http://www.knork.net/ Continue

Bridget Soden One Last Toast – Rob Sexton (1946-2008)

I remember meeting Rob at Cabana's at the Lab one evening in 2002. He was with his beautiful wife Carol waiting for fellow AIGA members to arrive for a MIX event. Rob quickly saw that I had a misplaced look on my face and after a few minutes of pacing the patio, he invited me to joi… Continue

Taryn Ready to network?

Hi, my name is Taryn and I joined Dezumo a couple of weeks ago. I live in Irvine and am interested in networking with anyone and everyone on this site. I think the site is a great idea and I'm looking forward to getting more involved with it. I make short films (shoot, edit, etc..) and edit instructional and promotional DVDs for local companies. I'm not super familiar with how Dezumo works, so any advice on how to become more involved and "take advantage" of what Dezumo has to offer would be gr… Continue

Rufus Newb Alert!

Greetings to all you creatively inclined. I plan to study Graphic Design in college, almost surely at CSULB. I am also an aspiring independent filmmaker. Now I've been studying, researching these two arts for a while now. But If any of you feel compelled to share your experiences, know-how, and all around any information, you will be greatly appreciated. I'd also like to become with friends with some if not all of you. Friends (and contacts) are always a welcome treat. Thanks again, Ravenous… Continue

Jonathan Good Really really bad bad TV ads... the one's we love to hate

It's Tuesday night, and have the TV on (in the background while catching up on some e-mail and doing some reading) and I just had to write a post about TV advertising. There are a ton of ads that I love to hate. I started a list to get things going: 1. Head on - Head on Head on. Their products might work great. Their ads may be cheap and effective, but I still hate their ads (all of their brands) 2. Every single Sonic Ad. Worship the Coney? yuck. Every time I see one of these ad… Continue

SpiderTeo Comic Review of Teo, 2 May, 2008

Comic Review of Teo, 2 May, 2008 Yes, it's been a while since I wrote one of these things. The main source for this is on my LJ at spiderteo.livejournal.com. So I guess I will write about some of the recent comics that struck me within the past few weeks. I won't be reviewing each comic that I get, but rather, I will focus on the issues that make an impression on me and some of the titles that might be hyped up. Also, I may also review multiple-issu… Continue

Matt Widmann Logo design 'contests' - good or bad?

I found This Link recently. There are these types of contests all over the net. I know the internet makes things more accessible to people. I also know that there are people out there that will do 'our' work for cheap. I think $250 is really too cheap for a logo and the contest part leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It cheapens what we do. What do you think? Good or bad...? Continue

Bridget Soden Tip of the Day: Social networking for O.C. innovators – OCRegister

Bridget Soden Says: April 1st, 2008 at 10:52 am Social networking is also increasingly important to Orange County’s creative community of graphic designers, photographers, programmers and the like. For creatives, networking has always been an important avenue to find resources, employment and become part of the local creative community. In my experience, most creative talent is found and hired through word of mouth. I myself have found my last three positions, here in Southern California, thro… Continue
